About the Company
Bailes Ferrer was founded in 1995 by Damaris I. Ferrer
as a way to bring the art of Flamenco music and dance
to Florida. The company premiered its first concert
in April 1996 after receiving a grant from the Broward
Cultural Affairs Council and since then has continued
to receive grants for their work. The word "Bailes"
means dances, which opens up the company's spectrum
so it is not limited only to Flamenco. The company began
working on collaborative projects with various artists
and has opened their doors to whoever wanted to collaborate
and create multi cultural projects and bring these functions
to Florida audiences. Programs such as concerts, workshops,
festivals and lecture demonstrations have allowed the
company to reach audiences both young and old throughout
Florida.
Bailes Ferrer has not
only presented Flamenco but has been successful in creating
multi-cultural works with artists combining the art
of Flamenco with Classical, Tango, Middle-Eastern and
jazz disciplines. Our collaborations with artists from
other disciplines have made us known in the community
as a company that presents multi-cultural and diverse
concerts at a high professional level.
Mission
Our mission is to be a part of cultural growth in our
community. Bailes Ferrer will make a difference within
a community of dispersed artists by bringing those artists
together whenever possible for collaborative efforts.
To create works that will benefit the community and
its artists by making the development of cultural arts
an everyday occurrence, not just a seasonal one in our
community.
